After a hectic 2004 for the Hothouse Flowers lead singer Liam O'Maonlai undertook a small Irish tour to back up his solo album Rian which was released a few months later.
This intimate show in the wonderful Whelan’s was well received by a knowledgeable crowd. It was a very different show to the Hothouse Flowers ones. He didn’t play any of that music and wouldn’t have expected him to. No point in doing a solo tour a few months after touring extensively with your band and playing the same songs again. This was an altogether different show, very much a folk / Irish music vibe from Liam. It wouldn't matter to me what he played though as he is always a pleasure to listen to....indeed a few pints were had while watching this most talented guy do what he does best.
