#78 Witnness Festival @ Ratoath Fairyhouse Racecourse (July 14th 2002)

Witnness Festival @ Ratoath Fairyhouse Racecourse July 14th 2002

Line Up: Oasis / Primal Scream / Badly Drawn Boy / No Doubt / Starsailor / Damien Rice

I had been a fan of Oasis for years and had seen them live many times before. On this occasion it really felt that they were going through the motions though. Wasn't that impressed with them it has to be said. They were capable of much better. The album they were touring was a good one (The Heathen Chemistry) so it wasn't that. Anyway they were still ok, even on a bad night Oasis were better than most.

Earlier in the day I saw the brilliant Damien Rice in the Witnness Rising tent and he was simply stunning. I think I knew then that this guy was gonna be big. Felt privileged to have seen him. Really got what a festival was all about after seeing his set. The small, intimate marquee with a few hundred other people while the majority were at the main stage outside.

Also got to see No Doubt who were surprisingly good and Primal Scream who are always worth the admission fee.
